Traveling Fellowship

Applications due by April 16

Through the generous support of the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, the Organisers are able to offer a number of Traveling Fellowships for scientists (at any level post-PhD) currently working on model system organisms such as C. elegans, who are interested in attending the Conference in order to learn more about (and potentially start work with) parasitic helminths. We would be particularly interested in those considering transfering new technologies from the model organisms to medically-important pathogens, as well as those for whom studies of specific molecular or cellular systems in C. elegans can now be extended to the parasitic homologues.

Fellows can participate in the meeting by presenting either a short talk (15 mins + 5 mins discussion) or a poster, depending on Fellows' preferences and availability in the schedule.

The Fellowships will cover all on-site costs including hotel accomodation and conference registration and evening events, and will provide a significant contribution to travel costs.  Fellows will be expected to attend the entire conference, arriving no later than Friday September 12, and departing no earlier than Wednesday September 17.

Applications should be emailed to Louisa Dowling (dowling@vet.upenn.edu) by 16 April, and include:

  • Abstract (see "call for abstracts" for format details)

  • Paragraph on why you wish to attend and how you expect to be able to become involved in parasite research

  • Estimate of travel costs

Do not send check - minimum support will be registration fee and hotel plus limited travel

Participant selection will be early May
